How CHP Works

The basic equation for CHP is taking process waste products like heat or steam and using them to create something else you need, like electricity.

Examples:

A reciprocating engine to produce electricity, hot water and steam
A combustion system using renewable bioproducts to create heat
A high-efficiency boiler and turbine to make electricity and steam

CHP is ideal for manufacturing plants, chemical processing, industrial distribution parks, dairy and food processing, as well as warehouses, hotels and universities – especially facilities that:

Operate 24/7, 365
Use at least 100,000 kWh and 600 MMBTU (million BTU) per month
Need to lower the cost of overall energy buy
Want improved control and production of heat, steam and chilled water
Would benefit from on-site power
